What is GAF Timberline HDZ in Weathered Wood like?
The color
Weathered Wood is a long-running neutral in the Timberline line. On the roof, the granule blend reads as a soft gray-brown that hides dirt, pollen and early streaking well and works with most brick, stone and siding colors. It looks grayer in strong sun and browner in shade, so view samples at different times of day.
What HDZ brings
- LayerLock construction. The two layers of the laminated shingle are bonded along the common bond to reduce delamination.
- StrikeZone nailing area. A wide target that helps crews place nails where they hold both layers, which matters for wind resistance.
- Algae-resistant granules. Helpful on shaded Georgia roofs where streaks form quickly.
- Wind coverage. GAF's enhanced wind coverage depends on installing qualifying GAF accessories such as starter strips and ridge caps.
Warranty basics
The shingle carries GAF's lifetime limited warranty with a non-prorated early period, and GAF's enhanced system warranties, which add coverage when qualifying GAF accessories are installed, are available only through GAF certified contractors. Read the terms for your installation, and see roofing warranties explained.
In Georgia heat
Weathered Wood is a mid-tone, so it absorbs more heat than light colors but less than charcoal or black. Good attic ventilation makes a bigger difference to shingle life than the color itself, as explained in the best shingle colors for Georgia heat.
