Georgia Roof Guide

What colors does GAF Timberline UHDZ come in?

Short answer. GAF Timberline UHDZ comes in six colors: Barkwood, Charcoal, Pewter Gray, Shakewood, Slate and Weathered Wood. That is a shorter palette of mostly gray and brown blends than Timberline HDZ, and the 2026 Bold Definition colors were announced for HDZ, so confirm with a supplier before assuming a color is offered in UHDZ.

The six colors

Why the list is short

UHDZ is GAF's premium Timberline, and GAF focuses it on its proven gray and brown blends. If your heart is set on a regional HDZ color such as Oyster Gray or Williamsburg Slate, or a Bold Definition color such as Midnight Mesa, you will likely need HDZ instead.

How UHDZ changes a color

The dual shadow line and thicker profile add more dark shadow to each course, so a UHDZ roof tends to read with more depth than the same color name on HDZ. Judge colors on actual UHDZ samples, not on HDZ boards.

Availability and the UltraMat version

GAF reworked UHDZ with its UltraMat fiberglass mat, and packages bearing the UltraMat logo and UL 2218 statement are rated Class 4. During any product transition, color availability can vary by market, so ask which colors are stocked in North Georgia in the UltraMat version.

Choosing

Weathered Wood and Charcoal are among GAF's most popular colors overall, a safe bet for resale. Shakewood and Barkwood warm up stone and earth tones, while Slate and Pewter Gray suit cool palettes. See the best shingle colors for Georgia heat and HOA roof approval.
